Belo sur Mer & Kirindy-Mitea National Park

Belo sur Mer - Snorkeling & Sailing: On Madagascar's Vezo (south-western) coast the village of Belo sur Mer is one of the last remaining outposts for the construction of large wooden sailing vessels. The majority of transport of goods and people in the region are powered by sail without motor support. Belo sur Mer is the center for building and operating the famous 'boutres' (gaffe-rigged goelettes) sailing ships along the coast.

Belo sur Mer is 60 km south of Morondava and reachable by sea and 4X4. A group of seven offshore islands provide superb snorkeling and SCUBA diving. In association with local hotels the Chez Maggie offers two to five-day packages.
